The Patrick M. Goble American Legion Post 974 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6974 are hosting Memorial Day Services to honor our fallen heroes on Monday, May 25th. The Public is invited to participate in all events. The VFW ceremony is at 8 am at the Post Mountain Cemetery at 321 Southland Drive, Burnet with placement of a wreath and flags at the grave sites of veterans interned at this location. The American Legion service takes place at 10 am at the Burnet City Cemetery at 600 Cemetery Street (end of S. Rhomberg Street) in Burnet. A wreath will be laid at the grave site of Private First Class Patrick M. Goble, USMC who was killed in action in Vietnam and is the Post's namesake. Military honors will be rendered by the Highland Lakes Honor Guard and the American Legion Color Guard. A flag retirement ceremony will take place at the VFW Hall at 1402 Buchanan Drive, Burnet at 12 noon. The public is encouraged to bring their unserviceable flags for honorable disposal. Light refreshments will be served following the flag retirement ceremony.
